Saturday in Ashland

Busy day today. I was going to get up early to take pictures, but sleep deprivation caught up with me so I slept in. The beds at the Ashland Hostel are a step up from Portland, with actual mattresses as opposed to futons. Still bunks and such, but I only had a couple roomies and they were in a different alcove, so it was a surprisingly quiet and pleasant sleeping experience. Plus, the worst of the heat broke overnight so I could actually sleep under a blanket. Yay!

Took the 10AM tour, which was so well-attended that it broke into 4 groups. The last time I took a tour one guy handled the whole crowd. Rex Young spoke for about a 30 minutes to everyone in Carpenter Hall, then we split up. My guide, Shane, was a technical guy instead of an actor, which is what I was hoping for. No offense to actors, but I love the nuts and bolts of how things work and he was the guy for that. It was a very informative tour and Shane and I made contact for, hopefully, follow-up interviews in the future.

In half an hour I'll be seeing The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler, then I'm going to the Preface for Our Town. I've already seen Our Town, but I've never been to a Preface and I'm curious what they're like. Then, at 8, I'm seeing the Oregon Cabaret Theatre 's production of archy and mehitabel. Then BEEEEED! And then, believe it or not, the same kind of day tomorrow. I'm doing it for you, gentle readers, I'm doing it for you. Oh, and it's fun. :)
